Changing the future through education

Get inspired by the stories of seven ALFA Foundation graduates and how they found their vocation.

We are masters of our destiny, it is only a matter of choosing and persevering.

Finding our life purpose is not easy, it requires deep reflection and self-knowledge to choose what our reason for being is. Our purpose encompasses more than one aspect of our lives, it is not only choosing a profession, but also understanding why and what we do what we do.

At ALFA Fundación, students receive support from a counselor who, through tests, interviews and accompaniment, helps them find what that purpose is. We will meet several students who have excelled by the determination to live their purpose and have obtained 100% scholarships in different universities.

Recipes to Cook a Better Future

“Recipes to Cook a Better Future” is Sigma’s campaign that inspires collaboration in Mexican households, working together to create a more equitable future. Recognizing the pivotal role of women in society and drawing inspiration from the first Mexican female astronaut, this campaign promotes equity through collective actions.

Building a memorable food brand goes far beyond offering good taste, impeccable quality, and a fair price. It’s also about linking the brand with certain values, a personality, and of course, with the consumers’ experience. Sigma is not just a food business, it seeks to positively impact the lives of people and communities, and support the development of everyone who interacts with the company.

Recognizing the pivotal role of women in society, Sigma has created La Villita®‘s “Recipes to Cook a Better Future” campaign, encouraging Mexican households to work together to create a more equitable future.

Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican woman to travel to space and the spokeswoman for this campaign, shares her success story, and gives us a concrete example of how working together can help one achieve personal, family, and community goals.

Katya answers the core question of the campaign: “Is there a formula for a better future?”. In Katya’s family, every individual brought their dedication, motivation, inspiration, and a variety of extraordinary values and ingredients combined together in a “unique dish” of love and support. With her family’s help, she graduated as an electronic engineer, and pursued her dream of becoming an astronaut.

Each member of her family brings their dedication, motivation and inspiration, as well as a variety of extraordinary values and ingredients mixed in a “unique dish”.

Nowadays, Katya has become a public speaker who inspires women of all ages. Through this initiative, the young engineer seeks to inspire more people to work as a team and overcome challenges to achieve their goals and move towards a brighter future.

This campaign is also a reflection of the purpose and values that Sigma puts into practice to boost the development of all those interacting with the company, team members, clients and consumers.

“Recipes to Cook a Better Future” acknowledges the role that women play in society and invites to promote equity.

In addition to producing and distributing cold meats and cheeses, Sigma’s operations positively impact the lives of people and communities.

Snack’In For You® is Sigma’s latest innovation in the world of nutritious snacks. After studying the habits, preferences, and motivations of consumers, Sigma developed a line of baked, protein-rich snacks with simple and recognizable ingredients.

Snack’In For You® is the new line of delicious and nutritious snacks that everyone was looking for.

“Through consumer research, we identified the perception that tasty products often lack nutritional value and vice versa; the healthier snacks are often unappetizing. Snack’In For You® satisfies both taste and nutrition, and has turned the world of snacks on its head.”

The Snack’In For You® range of products challenges the traditional concept of snacks through a strategy based on three essential pillars:
  1. Simplicity and transparency, with a maximum of six ingredients, recognizable by consumers
  2. A delicious product that is baked, not fried
  3. High-value, protein-dense snacks with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options

Simón Fusté has also explained that:

“[…] we want consumers to know what they are eating and what nutritional values it contributes, and therefore, we are committed to clean labeling, with clear and understandable information about the product.”

Snack’In For You® was created by Sigma’s Growth business unit, combining agility and flexibility. Development and launch were completed in record time, reducing time-to-market from 18 months to just five months.

The Snack’In For You® catalogue includes varieties of meat, dairy, vegetables, nuts, and fruit, and is marketed in Spain, France, Mexico, and the United States. Sigma is also working on launching Snack’In For You® in Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as other countries.

Every time we enter a convenience store we are surrounded by products to satisfy all kinds of cravings at the cost of a quick but significant decision: glass, aluminum or plastic packaging. Do you know which is the best choice?

NEED A DRINK? KEEP THIS IN MIND

1. Consume responsibly. Make sure that the product you consume is highly recyclable and dispose of it correctly.

2. Choose PET. If you see the bottom of a plastic bottle, look for a number 1 inside the recycling symbol, this means that it is made of PET and therefore is 100% recyclable.

3. Search for the recycling center closest to you. If you still don’t see infrastructure in your community, ask your government officials for more recycling locations.

Have you ever been in meeting after meeting where the exact same problem appears over and over again?

We are sure you have and, to help you overcome them, we present the Gray Area concept developed at Sigma.

Gray areas are lagoons, missing pieces in a process, in communication or the execution of a project that hinder its success. Maybe a deadline isn’t being met, an email wasn’t sent or an agreement isn’t being respected. For Sigma in Mexico, they are their first step towards a cultural transformation and they’re on the road to eliminating them completely.

A gray area may be solved in many ways: adding people to the equation, changing responsibilities from one department to another, adding a small step in a big process or modifying it completely. The solution may be as simple as sending an extra reminder email or setting up a weekly meeting to follow up on something.

 

So, when you feel a gray area is at hand, follow these steps:
